John Rittman is an American university softball trainer for the Clemson Tigers starting around 2017. John Rittman Vocation John Rittman functioned as an associate softball trainer at Oregon from 1988 to 1990, Minnesota from 1991 to 1992, and Washington from 1993 to 1996, during which time Oregon advanced to the 1989 Ladies’ School Worldwide championship and Minnesota won the Big Ten Meeting in 1992.

Rittman, who joined the main Washington training staff in 1993, helped Washington in coming out on top for the Pac-10 title in 1996 and coming to the Ladies’ School Worldwide championship last. John was named lead trainer of Stanford’s program in July 1996; the 1994 season saw the program’s varsity status change.

Rittman filled in as lead trainer for 16 continuous NCAA Division I Softball Title appearances from 1998 to 2013 (a consolidated record of 750-351-3), one Pac-10 title in 2005, five Very Territorial outings, and two visits in the Ladies’ School Worldwide championship in 2001 and 2004.

Mendoza and Ramona Shelburne, a second Stanford player under Rittman, later filled in as ESPN telecasters. Allister played two seasons in the Public Genius Fastpitch Association prior to getting back to Stanford as an associate mentor under Rittman from 2007 to 2009 preceding taking over as lead trainer in 2018.

Rittman left Stanford on June 2, 2014, after the Cardinal finished 5-19 in Pac-12 Meeting games that year. His renunciation was met with debate and disclosures of a huge NCAA rule break. He then served two seasons as a partner lead trainer at Kansas in 2015 and 2017, as well as two stretches as a right hand with USA Softball.
